Brief History of Bostitch

It can be a bit tough to find a company that can provide the level of service and expertise as Bostitch. Whether you need fasteners or power tools made, they have been doing it for decades, with an impressive list of satisfied customers as proof.

Bostitch started its journey back in 1896. Later in 1987, Stanley acquired Bostitch and started developing the latest industrial staplers.

Currently, Bostitch has become a global leader in the industry of power tools, construction, furniture, packaging, and automotive equipment.

Besides, the brand also offers innovative products for gardening enthusiasts to provide their projects with expertly applied fasteners that will last through any weather condition they face; it’s no wonder why so many people rely on Bostitch every day.

The company was purchased by Stanley Black & Decker in 2017. Bostitch products are manufactured worldwide, including in the United States, Mexico, China, and the United Kingdom. Bostitch tools are used in various industries, including construction, woodworking, and automotive.

Bostitch is best known for its power tools, but they also manufacture many hand tools and accessories such as porter cable. Their most popular products include rotary hammers, air pressure, nailers, trim tools, and staplers.

Brief History of Dewalt

DeWalt, the famous power tool manufacturer, was founded by Raymond DeWalt in Pennsylvania. The company commenced its operation in 1924, and initially, DeWalt was a radial arm saw maker. Later in 1947, the firm was reorganized as DeWalt Inc.

However, in 1949, DeWalt was acquired by the American Machine r& Foundry Co aka AMF, and they operated the company until 1960.

In the late 1960s, the popular name in the power tool industries, Black and Decker, acquired the DeWalt. The collaboration was a massive success and Dewalt continued to be the subsidiary of Black & Decker to this day.

In 1992, Black & Decker planned to rebrand its business and improve its sales; hence it rebranded the company under the DeWalt name.

Since 1994, DeWalt has shocked the industry by offering several handy cordless power tools. At that time, DeWalt launched various power tools such as cordless drills, cordless saws, impact drivers, screwdrivers, and many more.
Due to this enormous change, Black and Decker witnessed an unpredictable rise in profit, and to date, DeWalt continues to be one of the most reliable power tools brands worldwide

In May 2018, DeWalt further released a wide range of cordless lawnmowers and 20V or 60V batteries.

Bostitch vs. Dewalt: Warranty

How can you be sure that your power tool will last as long and do the job properly if it has no warranty? A good quality product is only worth buying from a company with excellent customer service and an adequate warranty period, such as Bostitch or DeWalt.

Bostitch

Bostitch only offers a one-year warranty on all of its power tools and other products. However, keep in mind that Bostitch provides a limited warranty on its products. This means that the company will bear any damage or repair to the tools, not by the consumer. This is a standard condition of the warranty that you will also find on DeWalt’s products.

DeWalt

While Bostitch offers a limited warranty but DeWalt does not restrict its warranties. The best thing about having DeWalt’s products is that you will get a 90-day no questions asked money-back guarantee on your purchases.

Besides, DeWalt also offers a 3-year limited warranty on some of its power tools and other products. At the same time, you will find an extended warranty of up to 7-year on some heavy-duty power tools.

Bostitch vs. Dewalt: Which brand is Better

Is Bostitch the best, or Is Dewalt the best?

The main difference between Bostitch vs Dewalt tools is that DeWalt power tools are more suitable than the Bostitch. However, you need to know that Bostitch tools are more user-friendly and pretty much affordable than the DeWalt.

If you are a normal home user or DIYer, then you will love the 12V and 18V offered by Bostitch. These power tools are ideal for home uses and will cost you a fortune.

On the other hand, if you are a contractor or often work with heavy-duty tools, we will advise you to go with DeWalt’s 20V and 60V tools to complete the task.

Bostitch Air Compressor Combo Kit vs. Dewalt Pancake Air Compressor

Bostitch Air Compressor Combo Kit vs. Dewalt Pancake Air Compressor

Both these are renowned air compressors in the market that you can use for various purposes. However, there are some vital differences between these two units. So what are the differences? Below we have compared both Bostitch vs. DeWalt pancake air compressors for your ease:

The most significant difference between the Bostitch air compressor combo kit (BTFP3KIT) and DeWalt’s pancake air compressor Both these are renowned air compressors in the market that you can use for various purposes. However, there are some vital differences between these two units. So what are the differences? Below we have compared both Bostitch vs. DeWalt pancake air compressors for your ease:

On the other hand, Dewalt’s pancake air compressor is only a compressor. I observed some other differences between these two models:

come with sturdy rubber feet, and two connects. However, you will also find a 15 feet hose, whereas the DeWalt did not have any hose.

Furthermore, the plastic parts and accessories of the Bostitch compressor are much sturdier than the DeWalt.

Other than this, the Bostitch combo kit comes with rubber anti-slip grips, whereas the DeWalt pancake comes with plastic grips.

As for the noise level, both are almost the same, but I found the Bostitch combo kit slightly louder (it’s my personal opinion). Besides, I was also impressed by the higher PSI of Bostitch’s pancake compressor.

The Dewalt 6 gal 165 psi air compressor is an excellent choice for homeowners and professionals alike. This high-quality machine can handle most smaller jobs, but if you’re working on larger projects, I would recommend looking into something else because this one might be too small.

On the other hand, this 3-tool combo kit from Bostitch is perfect for any home or hobbyist craftsman looking to air gun tools that are both simple and functional.

The 150 PSI pancake compressor allows you to handle small projects with ease while also being able to work on bigger jobs when necessary.

Lastly, in terms of build quality and portability, both Bostitch and Dewalt pancake compressors are up to the mark. Similarly, the warranty of both these units is one year (limited).

Bostitch vs. Dewalt Brad Nailer

The cords are one of the most annoying things about getting a nail gun, but luckily these days, you don’t need them since both BOSTITCH and DEWALT brand cordless models come with batteries that last long enough for most projects.

First of all, Bostitch and Dewalt offer both Finish and Brad nailers. You will find a plethora of choices from both brands. However, DeWalt Cordless Brad nailers are more reputable for their precision and ease of use, whereas Bostitch has the upper hand in terms of price. You will find Bostitch Brad nailers more expensive than DeWalt.

Bostitch Brad Nailer Kit (BTFP12233) vs Dewalt Brad Nailer (DCN680B)

Dewalt vs Bostitch Brad Nailer

Bostitch 18 Gauge Brad nailer efficiently drives 18 GA brad nails from 5/8-inch to 2-1/8-inch length, whereas the Dewalt Brad nailer kit is perfect for 18 gauge nails from 5/8″ to 2″ length.

Another thing that we missed in DeWalt’s unit is the trigger system for sequential operation. However, both these Brad nailers come with 1/4-inch Air fitting components, a compact carrying case, and No-Mar Tips.

For your convenience, the Bostitch and DeWalt brad nailers come with air fitting, rear air exhaust, and an integrated pencil sharpener.

As for the construction, both these pneumatic nailers are simple to use and well designed. However, the Bostitch brad nailer is simple for nail placement because of its smaller nose.

While analyzing Bostitch vs Dewalt Brad nailers, you can comfortably use the Bostitch nailer at the lightest needed, likely 90 PSI. However, you can also use the nailer on 120 PSI if needed or when dealing with tough tasks.

Dewalt nailer is also well designed, but I will not recommend you to use it on above 100 PSI as it can cause various issues.

However, both brands offer various options, so it’s important to compare features and prices to find the best value for your needs.

Lastly, both these power tools are backed by a three-year warranty; hence, you can purchase them with confidence.

Bostitch Crown Stapler vs. Dewalt Cable Stapler

Bostitch Crown Stapler vs. Dewalt Cable Stapler
Bostitch Crown Stapler vs. Dewalt Cable Stapler

Bostitch’s stapler gun (SX1838K) is designed to produce ten or more staples in one second. However, I found this gun a little bit bulkier and heavier feeling than DeWalt’s Stapler gun (DCN701D1). But Bostitch is handy for all engineers out there as it comes with a greater movement of inertia than the DeWalt’s Stapler gun, so it doesn’t turn and rotate easily.

Besides, I noticed a very solid pleasing sound while using this Bostitch device. I feel like smashing the staples in with command. Other than this, the gun’s depth adjustment works fine via a 4mm Allen key. Plus, the staple magazine is simpler to load than the DeWalt’s gun; however, they are placed very close.

An early flaw that I noticed while examining the DeWalt’s gun was grabbing the magazine’s tail as a second-hand hold, and as a result, it will prevent the staples from fully iterating between multiple shots and would often jam. However, the Bostitch stapler gun went a lot better.

The Bostitch’s stapler gun has a good spot to grab; hence it will not pinch or squeeze the magazine around the staples, so that’s a definite advantage over the DeWalt.

On the other hand, I was able to staple fiberglass insulation with the Dewalt stapler gun without much difficulty. I had no problem using it on 2×4 studs that were 3/8″ thick; however, when tackling older wood with thicker staples than what is typically used today (9/16″), there was definitely more bite needed from my end.

We noticed only one minor flaw in the DeWalt’s stapler gun. The gun does not have a latch or lock to keep the unit’s handle firmly in the closed position while storing.

The skyhook is a very welcome addition to the Bostitch. However, both staple guns have similar gates that need clearing of jams, but it’s easier with this BOSTITCH model because you don’t have as much force required when opening up your package.

This DeWalt is a game-changer if you are dealing with household or minor tasks. I finished the rest of my project (lining several planters with plastic sheeting) without any jams or struggle. The trigger squeezing was smooth and straightforward, which made finishing quick and straightforward- it is ideal for DIY’ers who want to perform some light work.

So, which brand is right for you? This heavily depends on your specific needs and preferences, and usage.

My Personal Experience with both Brands, Bostitch, and Dewalt:

As a professional contractor, my father has always been particular about his tool brands. When I was growing up, he only used DeWalt tools.
However, in recent years he has switched to using BOSTITCH tools exclusively. He has told me that the quality and durability of DeWalt’s tools have declined, while BOSTITCH’s products have continued to improve.
While I am still considering DeWalt tools as I have found that Bostitch offers more limited choices. Plus, I have not been able to find some of the specific power tools I need at BOSTITCH.

In the end, I will likely make my decision based on which brand offers the specific tools I need for my project.

Conclusion:

Choosing which brand of power tools to buy can be a tough decision. There are countless power tools brands on the market, and it can be hard to know which one is the best value for your money.

When it comes to Bostitch vs. DeWalt, it really depends on what you need the tools for. If you work in a trade that requires specialized tools, then DeWalt is a good choice. However, if your trade doesn’t require very specialized tools, then Bostitch is a better option.

Both brands provide lots of tool innovation but in different ways. Ultimately, it comes down to researching and deciding which brand is best for you and your needs.
